DONATE

You can donate to Yukon Cares via an e-transfer to yukon.cares@gmail.com

To receive a tax receipt please include a note or send an email with your name, address and email. Also note that while Yukon Cares has no religious affiliation, all tax receipts will come from our partner organization, the Office of Refugees, Archdiocese of Toronto (ORAT). ORAT has a formal relationship with the federal government to resettle refugees.

The cutoff for donations to be receipted for 2024 is noon Yukon time on December 30th 2024.  Any donations received in the last 36 hours of the year will be receipted for the 2025 taxation year.

VOLUNTEER

  • Join the Board of Directors – the Board of Directors meets monthly from September to June and is responsible for fundraising, managing budgets, organizing Yukon Cares events, and deciding when we can sponsor families – to name just a few activities. Directors are normally elected at our spring AGM. Our directors are very active – we each do a lot of volunteer work in between the monthly meetings.
  • Join a Settlement Committee – This is a one-year commitment. The Committee usually meets weekly for a year and is responsible for helping a sponsored family settle into Whitehorse and navigate all aspects of life in Canada. These activities may include helping set-up the home before the family arrives, collecting warm clothing for the family, helping the children register for school, taking the family shopping, visiting local attractions, setting up a bank account, getting health cards, job coaching, or driving family members to appointments. You will need an RCMP vulnerable sector check.
  • We sometimes need volunteers for specific tasks, such as fundraising, communication, or events. If you have something in mind, please let us know!
  • If you would like to volunteer, please contact us at yukon.cares@gmail.com and let us know what you are interested in!
